Things to do & see in Moc Chau Vietnam. What & where to eat in Moc Chau

Moc Chau (Mộc Châu) is a big plateau in Son La province. It is well-known for poetic landscapes with endless grass fields, huge gardens of plum and apricot trees and various flowers, immense tea plantations and large herds of milk cows. There are many ways to travel to Moc Chau plateau, however, I think the best way is traveling by motorbike. During the trip, you can observe the poetic but majestic beauty of Moc Chau.

If traveling by motorbike is not of your interest, you may get to Moc Chau by bus from Hanoi city, and then, rent a motorbike there. However, personally, I prefer to travel by motorbike from Hanoi because you can take time to observe and explore the beauty of Moc Chau along the road. Religious architectures in Nam Dinh – Vietnam

Before telling about my trip, I want to explain the big difference between Pagoda (Chùa) and temple (Đền) in Vietnamese culture, although they have very same architecture. The pagodas in Vietnam always worships the Buddha, they may worship many other Gods but always have the Buddha. And temples never worship the Buddha, they worship a great man (kings, queens, generals,…), a sacred animal (Wale, tiger,…) or even something that are respected.

How to cross the streets in Vietnam? Easier than you think!

I have lived in Hanoi capital from 2011 and i still remember the first days in Hanoi, when crossing a street was my bigest nightmare. I used to stand on sidewalk very long to watch before stepping down the road.

Before 2011, i lived in Lao Cai, it’s a small city where is very little vehicles and i never fear when crossing street. So when arriving Hanoi, it was really a big challenge because there are thousands of vehicles intertwining on a street and look there is no any space for walkers. I had to take a quite long time to learn the crossing street way.

What will you do to cross this street?

Now, i totally understand the anxiety of tourists when crossing in Vietnam and always help when see someone is confusing on the sidewalk.

So, how to cross the streets in Vietnam?

Really, you don’t have to worry about this in small cities, like Hue, Hoi An, Dalat,…, there are quite litte vehicles so the crossing is easy. But in big cities, like Sai Gon, Hanoi, Hai Phong, it’s a big trouble.

There is an easiest way to do this, find someone is free or a police and ask them for help, most of them will help you with the friendly (if they understand what are you wanting).

Mid-Autumn festival in Vietnam – A traditional touch in the air

Mid-Autumn festival is a major festival of Vietnam held on the full moon day of lunar August. Children in Vietnam just love this festival a lot because they can eat a lot of moon cakes and get given gifts. The festival is also a time for family to gather, eat mooncake and enjoy the full moon.

I still remember when I was a kid, on the Mid-Autumn days, I used to have a mask on and hold a lanterns, form a long line with other kids and parade noisily through all the streets that we can. Later on, we gather to watch lion dance and set out on Full Moon party. When I grew up a little more and had a bike, my younger sister and I usually chased the lion dance troops.
